Nakamise-dori, Asakusa, Tokyo
Nakamise-dori, the street that runs from the Kaminarimon up to the Hozomon gate at Senso-ji. It has been a market street for something like three hundred years and it is still doing exactly the same job: snacks, souvenirs, paper fortunes, and a great deal of foot traffic. I shot it long so the whole street compresses down into the gate at the end of it. Three centuries of feeding people, and it earned every one of the several trips I made back to it.
