Hozomon Gate, Senso-ji, Tokyo
The Hozomon gate with the big lantern hanging underneath it and New Year decorations strung out overhead. Cold, bright, and completely packed, which as far as I could tell is the normal state of Asakusa at more or less any hour. I gave up waiting for a gap in the crowd about ten minutes in and decided the crowd was the point. The life of the place was half of what I had come for.
