Stinson Beach, California
Stinson Beach, an hour north of the city if the road over Mount Tamalpais treats you well. The fog had caught on the ridge behind the beach and the sun was coming through it sideways, which turned everything gold and pressed the hills flat into layers. The old fence posts were already there, running down toward the water, and all I really did was line up behind them. Most of the photographs I like best are like that — the composition was already sitting there and my only job was to not get in its way.
