Cape Cod, Massachusetts

The Sandwich boardwalk, which starts more or less nowhere, runs out over the marsh, and delivers you onto a beach with dunes and nesting grounds at the far end. Look down as you walk and every plank has a name cut into it — families, birthdays, people being remembered. It is the only boardwalk I know where the floor is worth as much attention as the view.
