California Street, San Francisco

San Francisco lines itself up for you if you stand in the right place. California Street from up on Nob Hill, cable car tracks running straight down the middle and the Bay Bridge sitting at the end of them. A long lens stacks it all together and flattens the hill out of the picture entirely — in person you are looking down a very steep slope. Half the street was already in shadow and the other half was lit like it had been staged. A few months in, and the city was still surprising me every time I got above street level.
